Welcome to Pan African Nurse Anesthetists Conference 2020

The First Pan African Nurse Anesthetist Conference hopes to bring together nurse anesthetists, anesthesia providers, policy makers, and representatives from international agencies, non-governmental organizations, pharmaceutical & equipment manufacturers, and donors to focus on strengthening quality life-saving anesthesia care for pregnant women. The three-day event hopes to put the spotlight on key issues including availability, accessibility, acceptability and quality of anesthesia care for the most vulnerable and under-served population.

The scope of the conference activities will be under the twin banners of Universal Health Coverage and Nursing Now 2020 campaign where we hope to highlight the role nurse anesthetists have played in promoting access to quality and safe anesthesia to pregnant women as well as their neonates. This will be in the larger picture of promoting access to safe surgery not only for the pregnant mothers but also for the under-served populations in rural Africa with the ultimate goal of achieving UHC for all.

During this event, we will seek to reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the practice of safe anesthesia on the continent as well as our role in progress towards SDG 3. The PANAC conference will give African nurse anesthetists the opportunity to share experience on interventions aimed at improving access and availability of anesthesia services while ensuring that these services are responsive to the needs of the community and of the highest quality.
